Indyish.com invites you to unleash your inner drama queen!

This month, Indyish.com will snatch Dramatics from the safety of theatre and set it loose upon you at the Indyish Monthly Mess. The event features an interdisciplinary lineup of performers, all theatrical in their art forms.

Our host J. KELLY NESTRUCK, who currently puts his star-granting powers to work as the Globe and Mail’s theatre reviewer, will invite the audience to unleash their inner critic.

The audience will also be treated to a special screening of GABRIEL BRAN LOPEZ’s hilarious, sexy short film Flamousse, and works by Indyish’s collaborators *SAFE SOLVENT and KIDNAPPER FILMS. The intense portraiture of talented painter JENNY SCHADE will adorn the walls. Minimalist, alt-a’capella tunes will resonate through the space, courtesy of the enigmatic PROFESSOR PSYCHE. The evening will culminate with a performance by Montreal’s rising dark-pop stars, ON BODIES, who deliver raw vocals, synths, pedals, and kinetic drums, along with a flare for fabulous make-up and attire.

The soirée will also feature “SH*IT I AUDITIONED FOR,” a staging of the best (read: worst) scripts submitted to Indyish by the actors originally subjected to these trying auditions. Share in the pain as our in-house cast of dead-panned players enact classic (read: never made) independent films, commercials and Hollywood blockbusters that somehow got a budget to hold auditions.

April’s edition of the Monthly Mess returns to OFF Interarts, 5145 Saint Laurent (between Laurier and Fairmount).
