I was out recording this week’s Reading pod thinger when I had a conversation that turned into an interesting opportunity for Indyish members in Montreal. James, with whom I record the Reading podcasts, is working on launching his own recording studio at home. It seems he’s slowly evolving the living room into a homebrew local record label (which is funny because the kitchen is where Angela runs Honey Flower!). Right now they’ve got a perfectly serviceable and super comfortable audio recording set up where we’ve been collaborating and testing the Indyish podcast. James is adding gear all the time and he’s looking to gain experience and meet other artists. So together we talked and thought aha, something mutually beneficial might be done.
Soo… James is officially inviting any members who are interested in recording Indyish podcasts, or anyone who wants or needs to record a song for whatever reason to book time with him for:
free recording sessions!
Podcasting is easy if you’ve got the technology and something to say, and Indyish allies want to help hook you up.
The home studio is on Hotel de Ville and Mount Royal, here in Montreal, Quebec, CA.
Equipment:
Audio Software - Pro Tools LE 6.4
Interface - Digidesign MBox (2 Channels I/O)
Microphones - Neumann TLM 103, Shure SM57
It’s a beautiful, spacious, sunny ground floor with a back terrace; and a creepy, crumbling squathouse of a neighbor nextdoor for added ambiance. Oh yeah, and a front room full of kittens that need adopting! Just FYI.
Also! I can tell you this good news for Indyish non-Montrealers and Montrealers alike - we’re giving every member their own..
free podcast channel!
