Four Minutes to Midnight is an experimental literary arts zine, conceived in the samizdat tradition of underground publishing. Based in the firm belief that the personal is political, the zine explores the possibility for small stories, bad poetry, vast dreams and private pains as a means of advancing social change. We also seek to use the zine to challenge the tired dogmatism of commercial graphic design. The language of empire constantly threatens to suffocate our voices and we need to develop a language with which we can fight back. We fuck with typography because typography fucks with you.
“Almost every heartfelt page of 23:56 (as its abbreviation goes) revolves around issues of textuality, of words and pictures, of sense and shape, of palpable meaning-making.” - dbqp: visualizing poetics, December 2005
Winner of Best English-Language Zine Award at the inaugural Expozine Awards in 2005
