We’re in the process of building a home for Fixture Records on the internet. Elran of Touchbasic (and Indyish) was kind enough to host us and set us up with professional-looking email addresses. The site is up at fixture-records.com so check it out and let us know what you think! The next step is putting in a shopping cart system and audio streaming software. For now, the album ordering pages link up to Indyish product posts so you can still mail order all of our releases with paypal.
We’ve been doing lots of research into being a label so stay tuned for more posts on How to Release an Album. We had a great meeting with Andrew Rose of Secret City Records who let us ask lots of questions about how national distribution works and we’re slowly figuring out whether it makes sense for us go that route.
We had a show at our tiny apartment/office/studio with performances by Dirty Beaches, Brave Radar, Coulees, Freelove Fenner, Cresting, Red Texas Orange, and Random Creature Generator that went off quite hitch-free and we’ll be posting some video/photo action soon. We spent the rest of the weekend working on the computer and touring Mile End cafes and eateries with our friend Lee Tran from FBi Radio in Sydney, Australia. We responded to her question of “what do you guys usually do during the day?” with a bit of “uh, you mean besides this?”. We then loaded her arms with Montreal music and goodies to bring back to share with the Aussies.
