It is a multi-disciplinary inquest involving an orchestra/ choir, video/ animated projections, dance, & puppetry. It is an unrecorded concept album from the future, which comes to life before your eyes. Coming off of their Frankie award winning Fringe festival run, Teen Sleuth has expanded their production with new songs, musicians, dancers, & dramaturgy from Mainline Theatre’s Jeremy Hechtman.

Ellen Smallwood (creative & co-musical director/ songwriter) has added 4 additional songs, totalling 12, to flesh out the story and take us further into the Teen Sleuth world. Aleks Schürmer (Party like it’s 1699) returns as co musical director/ arranger/ keyboardist, creatively scoring, embellishing, & building Ellen’s songs for an expanded orchestra. Frances Mckenzie returns with her stunning visual projections, costumes, puppets, & drawings, expanded to further explore the Teen Sleuth realm. Heather Keiller’s choreography further animates the story. Also returning are violinist John Young, cellist Gabrielle Girard-Charest, and Mona Varichon on french horn.

Joining Teen Sleuth are Stefan Schneider (Bell Orchestre, The Luyas) on percussion, Alex Formosa (People for Audio, Waterblues, Victory Chimes) on guitar, and up and coming talents Sam Beaulé (double bass), Kate Maloney (violin), and Christophe Marois (viola). Rounding out the choir are McGill masters students Rona Nadler & Anna Luisa Daigneault (Banana & the Flying Colors), folk darling David Simard & Alex Mclean (the Rothchilds). Dancer Lydia Jenvey returns, joined by Allison Burns (Inertia Productions) and Maryruth Stine, with puppeteers Jenn Wade and Mayssan Charafeddine. Dave Landry returns as co-producer and wigmaster.

“An ex-girl guides wanders through a disenchanted forest meeting various cyborgs, post -humans, post-mammals & ghosts, wondering which are her friend and which are her foe. Inspired by their collective power, they rise up, gaining freedom from the tyrannous Company of Men, who have long ravaged their world. Becoming Teen Sleuth & the Freed Cyborg Choir, they embark on a journey to examine the raw evidence through singing ope-raw: the excavation/ colonization of the mind, body, spirit, land. To move forward they must look back in a series of 12 songs/ flashbacks. It is a coming of age story that will make you want to stand up and cheer!…although no one said coming of age would ever be easy…”
