New Date for Pascal Convert’s Artist’s Talk

French artist Pascal Convert will give an artist’s talk in conjunction with the exhibition Madone de Bentalha on Thursday, October 1st at 12:30 pm at Université du Québec à Montréal (Pavillon des Sciences de la gestion, 315 Sainte-Catherine St. East, room R-M130). Organised within the framework of the Programme ICI (Intervenants Culturels Internationaux) in collaboration with Galerie de l’UQAM and Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, this conference replaces the one originally planned September 11. The exhibition continues until October 10 at Galerie de l’UQAM.

Colloquium The Spaces of the Image

Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal reminds you that the international colloquium The Spaces of the Image will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009, from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm, at the Paul-Desmarais Theatre of the Canadian Centre for Architecture (1920 Baile St.). Open to the public, this colloquium will examine scenographic procedures and related issues in the fields of photography and new media. The participants will address means of projection and the spatial arrangements that have been envisioned for contemporary practices. Reception from 1:00 pm. Free of charge, limited number of seats (200). Simultaneous translation in English and French. Headphones will be provided with the presentation of an ID.

Moderated by Gaëlle Morel, Guest Curator and with the participation of: Nathalie Boulouch, Robert Burley, Garance Chabert, Florian Ebner, André Habib, Olivier Lugon, and Viva Paci.

Contact Image People’s Choice Award

Vote for your favourite artist of the 2009 program! The Contact Image People’s Choice Award will present a prize of $1,500 to the artist with the most votes. To participate, please vote online at www.moisdelaphoto.com/awardCI_form_eng.php by September 30, 2009. The winners of the Contact Image People’s Choice Award and the Dazibao Award will be announced at the colloquium.

Program of Cultural Mediation

In perfect harmony with the exhibitions of its 11th presentation, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal presents a Program of Cultural Mediation, which explores the questions of mechanisms and the staging in contemporary photography projects. Many educational and cultural activities are offered for the public and students (primary, secondary, college and university) until October 11. Reservations are required. Thanks to the generosity of our partners, all of these activities are free of charge.
