The Assembly is a collaborative art project first attempted by Indyish in February 2007. Starting with a shared art piece, artists pass work from team to team with a designated medium and time limit for each stage. Projects are built upon the work of previous artists and artists are challenged to make interesting and innovative work in a collaborative context.
Stages of the Assembly have included: scriptwriting, screenplay writing, illustration, animation, filmmaking, acting, and musicmaking.
At the end of each Assembly, project members perform the final pieces at a screening party. The work of each stage is published separately in a Projectbook and DVD. All work produced in the Assembly is licensed Creative Commons Attribution 2.5.
The Assembly uses software from Celtx to pass projects from team to team.
