Indyish is currently seeking contributions for our Monthly Mess, to take place January 25th. For this mess, we are looking for performers that explore urban space and urban experiences.
The city is a great and messy place, a collage of grime and glitter, mesh and clash, massive monuments and intimate details. The City Mess recognizes that art can create and pass along collective meaning and contribute to building a sense of place.
In the spirit of Indyish’s previous Monthly Messes, we want to bring together performances from a wide variety of disciplines: we are seeking music, spoken word, theatre, photography, urban planning, dance, architectural analysis, comedy, and things we haven’t thought of yet… We are open to putting up pretty much anything on stage, as long as it connects with the theme of the city, be it Montreal or elsewhere.
Each act should be under 10 minutes (20 minutes for bands). Please contact alanah @ indyish.com with your ideas. Submission are looked at on a first come first serve basis…the show goes on January 25th, so the sooner you get in touch, the better. Send in a link to a website where we can see your work, an attachment, or drop us a line explaining how you want to explore the City theme.
Indyish’s Monthly Mess is a curated showcase of independent artists, now in it’s 11th edition. The spectacle wanders the streets of Montreal in search of new and exciting venues. The Monthly Mess remains a pay what you can event and, perhaps because of this, our audiences are diverse and receptive and always have a great time. For more information on past monthly messes, check out the Monthly Mess Roundup.
