Here in the cozy, rickety Montreal apartment we call the Indyish homestead, us Indyish co-founders are juggling and looking toward the future and hoping we’re making the right choices.
For us, as for most Indyish members, I believe, the benefits of our work on Indyish are largely indirect – we don’t make our living from this site, but we get work (and new friends, and new ideas, and renewed passion and inspiration) because of this site, and that work is connected to Indyish, and pays the bills and extends the network’s reach a little more with each new connection.
We get hired to make websites, or to make old websites snazzier, stuff like that.
Right now the main contract I am working on combines film people and web engineers and I think has great potential for Indyish artists down the line, but for now it’s still behind a password and I’m not supposed to talk about it much.
Which I think is why it feels like this contract in particular is eating my life face first.
I’m doing 8-10 hours every day on a thing I can’t tell you about, and trying to do Indyish development and MonthlyMess planning on top of it is giving me sweaty eyeballs. Thank heavens for Paul Aflalo our Mess producer who is doing a great job, (and for people like QuadAntics, Project Transaction, Sylvain Verstricht, Meryem Yildiz and LaFileuse who always seem to pop up in time to keep the site snazzy and kicking just when I feel that I may be drowning.)
Here’s where we get to the call for help – I get more submissions of art and events then I can post and I feel really bad for the delay a few artists have been experiencing because I am the slow cog in the machine.
Perhaps this longed-for person is an Indyish member looking to contribute more, but maybe someone brand new and lovely is looking to get involved. Either way I will work closely with this person via email to get all the amazing content sent to us from around the world drafted up and ready to be published on Indyish.com.
