About the bands:
Brave Radar independently released their debut full-length album, Distracting Strangers in February 2008. The release garnered excited reviews from Exclaim Magazine and the Montreal Mirror and received radio play on college stations across the country. The trio have played Pop Montreal two years in a row and traveled to Austin, Texas to play SXSW in 2007.
In 2007, artist and musician Alex Zhang-Hungtai arrived in Montreal from Hawaii, via Toronto and Shanghai. He began recording new lofi pop songs under the name Dirty Beaches and was quickly called on by Fixture Records to release his first album, Old Blood. After completing this strong experimental album, Dirty Beaches recorded two new works: a download-only Seaside EP (available now from Fixture Records) and a horror-themed LP, scheduled for release in Fall 2008.
