This live on the floor video series, produced in partnership with Boutique Tone, features mini-sessions with a simple setup, “stripped back to capture that intimate moment when a talented musician wraps their hands around a truly great instrument.” Select artists are invited to choose from the incredible boutique gear available at “Canada’s #1 Guitar Shop” and to play one or two of their own songs for our cameras.
Stand out moments from the series so far have included Sway from Freedom or Death, fresh off a record launch in Toronto that saw 700 people dancing to their infectious and subtle pop, falling in love with a custom James Trussart electric guitar (beloved by Jack White and Lucinda Williams, to name just two) and pouring his heart into an intimate version of their single “This Crowded Room.” Mike O’Brien, featured in Premiere Guitar Magazine for his performance at the Montreal Guitar Show, played his eye-popping, toe tapping finger style on a guitar by master John Suhr (who has made guitars for Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Lou Reed, the list goes on) and left us humming his track for days.
The project so far has been a delight, and if you click through the arrows on the sides of the video player below you can watch them all. We are adding more of these each week, and getting better as we go, so if you are interested in getting involved go here to find out more, we look forward to hearing from you!
