Blu’s Wall Animations and Street Art Collectives

by Tessa Smith

Here’s a neat video of a wall animation by Italian street artist, Blu. This one was made at the Jonathan Levine gallery in New York in November 2007, but Blu does lots of amazing work on public walls too. The ones I’ve seen are mainly of human-like figures who walk around abandoned spaces, interacting with different parts of the landscape. Shadows betray how long these take to make.

Check out Blu’s website for the latest animations, including this absolutely amazing one that was drawn on graffitied walls in Buenos Aires. It’s called, “Muto: An Ambiguous Animation Painted on Public Walls”.
