Blonde Redhead at Club Soda and Plastic Little at Academy Club - Pictures

by Marilis Cardinal

Back in Febuary, a friend gave me tickets to Blonde Redhead as an early birthday present and what a treat it was. The show was a bit of a blur. We arrived late and missed most of the opening band, Fields, but while I didn’t quite know who they were, I realised that they were one of the many bands who reside on my ipod under the name ”Track 03” from a mixtape sent over from a friend in Scotland. Turns out the tune that I’ve grown to know by heart without knowing its source is ”Song for the Fields”. Blonde Redhead has very few interactions with the crowd but we’ll forgive them, they lived up to their grand self. I had to come up with new 007-type ways of hiding my camera and got these:

I then turned to Philadelphia’s Plastic Little for a much needed energy boost and they did just that! Talk about a drastic change! There were so many people at Academy Club, as part of a Peer Pressure party, that my camera lens got foggy. You might have seen PLastic Little on the cover of the Mirror alongside male and female nurses with pink wigs and they echoed the same randomness and unexpected behaviour, jumping in the crowd and dancing with the ladies in the front row. Fun times!

Thank youuuuu! First I had to wrap my camera in a sweater when they checked my bag at the entrance because i wasnt about to coat check my camera and then, as I was taking pictures during Fields, a security guard came to ask for my pass, which i didnt have, and so i had to get a friend to put his arm around me for Blonde Redhead so i could be hidden. Gah! Tough! But oh well, they turned out nice :)
