Blackout party usurps local art show

by Tessa Smith

Last week’s ice storm took most of us by surprise. So did the subsequent arrival of winter a day later.

On Friday, Tyler’s vernissage was set to take place at Green Room with performances from Lil Pip, Random Creature Generator, and Telefauna. Instead, the power was blown on St. Laurent and gear had to be shlepped back and forth in the freezing rain. By 9 they had decided the show was off and we all settled in for a quiet night of conversation over a few beers in our apartment. Not 5 minutes later, in busts Martin, Nisa, and Simon screaming “brap brap bla-kowt” or something to that effect. Next thing we know there’s a party going on and Lil Pip is performing with Tyler and Graham Van Pelt is throwing in a rap or two and our house is shaking.

wha??

That’s Bea in the front who baked vegan cookies and cake which Tyler decorated with faces and swirls inspired by his pieces in the show. Best non-vernissage ever.

Check out Telefauna’s blog ici for more party photos. And we’ll keep you posted on the new date of Tyler’s vernissage which is postponed for later in the month. His work is up at Green Room till January so check it out.

Plus Lil Pip and Adam and Tyler are all performing at our indyish party on the 17th. So there’ll be plenty of warmth to stave off the blues till at least New Years.
