Here’s a cool list of video sites like youtube that we’ve been keeping an eye on over the last few months. All of them let you upload and share video with others. I’m not going to go into detail about each of their distinctive features, but most of them have similar standard tools like an “upload” button, a “my videos” section, an “account settings” page, etc. If you’re going to join any of these, be sure to look for indyish and befriend/favorite us.

Also, we haven’t had a chance to try all of these yet, so i’ll start by listing the sites that we have tried, leaving the lesser known ones for last. If you happen to try out any of the one’s we haven’t tested yet - indyish wants to know - so please come back to this page and share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
Ok, here we go..
Video Sites that indyish uses:
Video Sites by the Big 4:
Video Sites that are newcomers:
Just some last minute advice: if you don’t want to signup with a completely new service just to upload a few videos, choose a site like Google, Yahoo, or MSN Video. The reason being, if you already have a Gmail, Yahoo Mail, of Hotmail account - you’re already setup with one of the previously mentioned sites - you won’t need to go through an entire signup process again. It is the simplest way to get your videos online.
We’ll likely test all of these services in the coming months, and i may even come back here and keep this page up-to-date. But, by all means, if you come across a cool website that lets you upload and share videos (one that’s not already on the list) - leave us a comment and we’ll check it out for sure, yo.
other hot video spots:
internet motion picture archive
and
lulu.tv

I’ve used YouTube and GUBA. I like YouTube because there’s so much content, but GUBA has a 2 GB limit, so uploaders don’t have to worry about size.

Another good site which has a revenue share option is http://www.infectiousvideos.com - they let you place your own adsense code on your videos to get 50 percent of the impressions.

i am glad that this article became a useful resources over the last few months.
Side Note - VideoEgg (from list above) has recently announced that they are discontinuing their consumer video uploading, hosting and sharing service. Not going out of business, just re-focusing on their video Ad Network. Still, i’m gonna cross them off the list of sites that let you upload your video.
Some more video sites to check out:
- Vimeo
- blip.tv
- Ooyala
- Cruxy
- Pixsy
- Truveo
- Viddler
- Veoh
- KickApps

Vimeo is my favourite of the newer ones. the quality is high (they’ve got hd now too) and the player is very minimal: it has no ugly screen frame and all the icons disappear when you start watching so it’s just a window into videoland. but it limits you to 500 mb in uploads a week. blip.tv looks good too, but i haven’t tried it.
i usually upload on multiple sites: indyish, youtube (for the widest audience), and vimeo (for embedding aesthetics).
