Berlin with Other via Chris Dyer

by Risa Dickens

We heard a hi from Peru here last week where he mentioned his brother so this week I figured I’d pass along the hi and heads up from the other Dyer. Chris Dyer is a well known artist in skate and graf circles, as he works mostly on the backs of broken boards, or sometimes on brand new one for riders who commission the work.

High! Hows it going?

This week I went over to Berlin, Germany to visit my Mtl friend and amazing artist Other (http://www.flickr.com/photos/other/ ) and stayed at his spot together with Dixon/Royal (royal.them.ca ), whos another great artist from Ottawa residing in Barcelona now. Super funny and hard working dudes to hang with.

Berlin in a few words was huge, dirty, yet super artsy in a young way as living there is super cheap for worldwide artsits. So art is everywhere, yet theres almost too much graffity, especially in artist squats. The first nigh there I went to a free exposition that took over an abandoned building with 5 floors of big loft rooms filled with funky alternative street art, super cool!

I also when around exploring on a bike, seeing the sights and bullet holes reminders of ww2. Got to skate a couple fun spots too like the infamous Berlin Wall. Anyways, the pics will illustrate better.

So I just took down my show in Belgium and though I sold a couple of paintings, Europe has sorta crippled my finances for a bit. So if anybody has ever felt like buying some original art, or prints (on cardboard or skate wood), now is the best time. Also, if ya wanna check out my small rootsy Hemp T-shirt brand, Positive Creations Clothing, you can also buy any of our designs on www.positivecreationsclothing.com . We are working to get more stuff that’s respectful to workers n the environment, and hopefully grow, with your support!

So see ya soon come, Love n light, Chris!
