The first batons have been successfully passed off in the Assembly Relay.
Risa and I met yesterday at the Croissanterie with the filmmakers taking over the screenwriters’ scripts that were written this past week. It was great to sit down with this excited group of creative folks and get to show them Celtx and hand out the scripts.
We joked about how every Indyish filmmaking project seems to attract at least one stop-motion piece. Perhaps we’re poor or trapped by winter or anti-social and don’t have access to elaborate locations. Or maybe it’s just really frickin fun.
In our most recent Music Video Making Competition at the
Marty Reisch and Lara Kaluza made a stopmotion video for Telefauna’s “Tombstone” in our previous Music Video Making Competition during our launch weekend in August. They also teamed up to make a video for “Nu Bubblegum” by Thunderheist at the Holla Days videomaking. And returning for their third time, they’ll be shooting a film this week in the Assembly. Hurrah!
After the meeting, Marty wrote me to comment on his experience with Celtx, saying, “i fucking LOVE this tool, and will use it on EVERY project i’m involved in. in fact, i’ve just spread it like a virus to the concordia THEATRE department, as well as this project i’m working on with CUTV (invisible diaries)”.
It really is a lovely little program once you understand all the things it makes easy for you. Good luck to this week’s filmmaking teams who have the tricky job of interpreting another person’s writing and making a film in their own style in just one week, while leaving space for next week’s musicians to compliment their work with an original soundtrack.
