Assembly 2.0 Kernel Author Announced: It’s TJ Dawe!

by Risa Dickens

The Assembly 2.0 is an international art relay for writers, actors, directors, illustrators, animators (GIFs) and musicians.
Press Release here.

Indyish can now officially announce that the starting text for the Assembly 2.0 - the project’s kernel - will be provided by the gentleman who’s been an international Fringe success story several times over, the critically acclaimed Canadian writer, performer director and dramaturge, monsieur TJ Dawe!

The games begin May 1, with a short script from TJ Dawe for inspiration. This is the project kernel; from it all things Assembly 2.0 unfold, and it will be performed by TJ Dawe, alongside all it’s evolutions, at the final Assembly 2.0 screening during the Fringe Festival of Montreal.

If this talk of kernels sounds familiar to you Linux lovers out there, it should - the Assembly project is open source inspired, and draws on ideas and processes that have helped make free tools and an open public commons possible online. The Assembly is being organized with our buddies at Celtx, the awesome open source software for Theatre and Film writing and pre-production.

Indyish is real glad to help Celtx make their introduction to the Fringe and it’s huge community of exceptionally talented writers, like Tj Dawe, who just might be into free tools for their craft. When we discovered that the people from the Celtx crew we talked to hadn’t heard much about the Fringe Festivals that happen around the world, we were happy to be able to produce a project together that might help them connect. Because this is what Indyish is about; we’re young and small and kooky, but - We Plug In (we’re gonna make T’shirts!) - and when the networks being linked by us support open, creative communities like Celtx and the Fringe we think everybody wins.
