define: independent.
Independence is difficult to qualify, but Indyish is just a site for talking about work, developing good work and selling it. We’re committed to taking the smallest percentage we can from artist’s work, and to finding mutually beneficial collaborative schemes.
On the web end, we’re building systems that help independent artists organize the business aspects of their work, and that connect them to the evolving possibilities for community and business on the Web. To read more about indyish go to About or to the small but growing FAQ.

Practicalities: Artists should send a query/introduction and a few representative photos of their work to: newartist @ indyish . com
We love everyone, we just want to grow in a sustainable way, so we’ll be welcoming new artists on gradually.
Our suggestion to the artists who have been thinking about what to send us is this: pick a few pieces that you think represent where you are, and/or where you’d like to be going; and think about including information on the processes, people and politics involved in what you do.
Photographs: To get your products up on the site you need images, and maybe photographs. If you’re in Montreal our photographer, Darren Curtis of Actaeon Photo, can take these for a special indyish price. This’ll guarantee that your products will look like the other pieces that were professionally photographed for the site. This will also help us support dear Darren, who is busily building his own business.
You can also send us your own pictures (up to three per product) and we won’t mind, but if they’re unclear or unflattering you might not be able to sell your work with them.
