USINE 106U casually invites you to the opening of the spectacular exhibition ILLUMINATION presenting the artwork of 22 visual artists: Mark Prent, Eric Braün, La puce à l’agonie, Mimi Traillette, Jean-Michel Cholette, René Donais, Yves Milet-Desfougères, Jean Pronovost, Hollie Dzama , Stuart Rae, Daniel Erban, Sam Kerson, Jacques Newashish, Sweet Grognasse, Valérie Sury, Steve Godin, Alex Kramer, Serge De Cotret, Monk Boucher, Argonacon, Etienne Jubinville et Joe Bébèl.

Photosensible paintings, monumental sculptures, kinetic pieces, etchings, original drawings, modified plush toys, silkscreens, collages, papier mâché dolls and other fascinating curiosities will take over the space.. The exhibition takes place at USINE 106U, 111 Roy E. from May 3rd to May 31st 2007, and the opening will be held on Thursday May 3rd 5hPM to 11hPM. Opening hours are Saturday to Wednesday noon to 6hPM , Thursday & Friday from noon to 9hPM.

Mark Prent: The most controversial canadian sculptor of his generation, known worldwide for his hyper-realist nightmarish sculptures. He portrays with body molding techniques his inner visions, without altering the dramatic or emotional charge of the subject.

Eric Braün: Multidisciplinary artist (painting, sculpture, comics, etching), publisher of the anthology 106U and founder of USINE 106U. His graphic universe explores different materials with humor and lucidity.

La puce à l’agonie : Designer, painter and conceptor, her work in visual arts focuses on recomposing fragments linked to childhood and by mass-producing little pink cats.


Mimi Traillette :
Cartoonist-photograph and designer, she creates colorful and entertaining pieces with influences coming from rock & roll , comics and aquatic depths..

Jean-Michel Cholette : His acrylic paintings are guided by an inspiration tapping intoPop Surrealism, lowbrow art and fantasy illustration. His cybernetic creatures and dislocated architectures take place in an aesthetic combining influences from science-fiction, ancient religious symbols, litterature and old family portraits.

René Donais: Well-known etching artist, member of the Atelier Circulaire, he distinguishes himself with the quality of execution of his work, in the tradition of 17 th century anatomical engravers, and by his teratological themes.


Yves Milet-Desfougères:
Well-known french etching artist and painter, he explores symbolical themes with his ethereal landscapes haunted by hallucinatory visions. Member of the surrealists in the 60′, he built his monumental carreer and is known of a handful of European collectors.


Jean Pronovost :
Painter and sculptor, with the stroke of a paintbrush, he transports the viewer from an Inca legend, or plunges us into the urban jungle. With the movement of a palette knife, he invokes forgotten gods. The powerful realism of his paintings and sculptures reveal a world where ancient symbols discover new meaning.

Hollie Dzama: She like to sew dolls & clothing, paint & draw, sing, crochet (& knit sometimes), etc. She is also interested in fiber arts.

Stuart Rae: Sculptor and designer of dental jewelery, he masters in the sharpness of stylised minimal shapes, while taking the challenge of rendering aesthetic parasite subjects and human remains.

Daniel Erban: Brut artist to the core and mathematician, his oversize ink drawings on red paper are complex and decadent, translating by a transgressive gestual a dark and shocking universe, not without a certain humor.

Sam Kerson: A nomadic and visionary artist with strong social and political inclinations, his pastels, linocuts and acrylics are filled with symbolic expression and vibrant colors translate the movement, heart of his work.

Jacques Newashish : Atikamekh visionary painter, his work carries the spirit of native American indian folk in a contemporary visual language.


Sweet Grognasse:
A colorful visual artist, she works in graphic design and creates paintings, silkscreen and textiles in the tradition of pop-art with a lot of humor and esthetism.

Valérie Sury: French Brut artist, her astonishing paintings and papier mâché dolls carry the intensity linked with Art Brut through complex compositions and meticulous application of textures and colors.

Steve Godin: A true visionary visual artist , he also works in cinema. His drawings and paintings of a classical quality explore ancient pagan rituals through a surrealist organic spirituality.


Alex Kramer:
Visual artist, her pen and ink drawings illustrate with an analytic line portaits of a truly authentic expression, as much by the choice of her subjects than her stylized realistic approach.


Serge De Cotret :
Painter and photographer, his figurative work dwells its inspiration mainly in religious thematics and in the shadowy corners of the Eros.


Monk Boucher:
Writer and collage artist, his subconscious visions are as many retinian scalps dedicated to the decomposition of contemporary fragments reassembled in a detonating visual apotheosis.

Argonacon: (indyish buddy!) Dynamic visual artist, his silkscreens and drawings superimpose stylised realistic patterns with symbolic compositions in a minimal and refreshing way.


Etienne Jubinville :
Contemporary painter, his work is distinctive for its moody textures and brushed figures and shows great painting skills.


Joe Bébèl:
A one-of-a-kind painter-sculptor, his meticulous work of assembling colorful psychedelic pieces displays a boundless creativity and an avant-garde approach to the object. Certain photosensible pieces have different levels of reading
