I received word of this from Melissa of Punch Shoes, and the work looks fascinating and dear as she is so I’ll try to go. It’s at 137 Laurier ouest from 6-9, and the show runs until the 23 of June.
This is unrelated, but have you ever noticed how often the number 23 turns up? It haunts some people more then others, like my friend Bruce, but there’ s even a sex cult that’s accrued around the potency of the digits, which is great and odd, and several people have made some deeply paranoid, or maybe just deep, lists of the places the number appears. I’m just saying it’s interesting, is all.
i went yesterday, and checked out the show, and ended up chatting with Luzia Vogt for a while about her art- the melted and maneuvered industral products- like wrapping or plastic combs- fused down into glossy, plant like formations with curled spears of gold right inside, forming the clasp. she was full of ideas and wanted to share her favorite pieces with me in such an awesome way, chill, and loving way. i was really glad i went. i swapped cards with her and we spoke about indyish, so who knows what the future will bring. (drama!)
