Ok.
I’m the guy behind the girl and guy and many other people who run this site and i’ll be doing my best to coordinate the Art side of things. When i sit down or stand up to think about it, “Art” is a pretty far reaching category, basically encompassing anything created with artistic intent, painting, video, photography, comics, design….holy hell, what have i gotten myself into here!
I’ll start things off with a suggestion followed by another suggestion…
If you haven’t already, try to get down to the Sobey exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Its a compilation of up and coming artists from all over Canada. You’ve got Inuits watching porn, a burnt out closet leading to a mirror ball contraption activated when you open the door (easily could’ve spent the day opening and closing and opening and closing and..) and a room full of men beating the right piss out of eachother. Very nice.
Oh and the most important thing, its free.
Last, i’d like to put a call out there to anyone who might be interested in starting a filmmaking collective through Indyish. A good place to start i think would be getting some music videos done. This city is, shall we say “good” when it comes to the music scene. There are lots of bands out there that have at least a self released CD but have never considered doing a video because it costs like 70 million dollars to do one. Film making is like painting a picture with an army (kurosawa’s saying, not mine). It takes photgraphers, fashion designers, painters, writers, computer techies and on and on and in no particular order to get tha job done (snoop dogg’s saying, again not mine). It might prove to be a great way to showcase everyone’s talents whether its destined to be played on the internet or on national tv. Either way, you’d have to agree the whole concept is at least better than a claw-punch to the throat. Get back to me on this.
I guess that’s it for now. I’ll be hitting you up again pretty soon in regards to the 24hr Music Video Making Contest. Out.
oh ya, i almost forgot..my name is jay.
