Hola folks! Bloggin’ from the Osheaga Festival! Yeaaaaaaaah! Tessa just got here with some sunscreen so I can stop obsessing about skin cancer. The 4 of us (with Alanah and our new buddy Bradley) just got back from Thunderheist at the MEG stage. Let’s just say a whole lot of sweat was shed. Shed? Can we say that? Sure! Why not? I just need to mention that the heat is making me a bit confused. We danced at the front of the stage, echoing the moves of the makeshit backup dancers in the crowd.
Oi, it is so so so hot right now. Thank goodness for the fans in here. Jamie T. just finished his set behind us with the song ”Sheila” that a friend of mine from Scotland sent on a mix tape once.
We got here a little before 12 and went to find our passes and waited in crowd chatting with Tyler Rauman who will be selling some posters on the site and has a few up in the Zoolab maze. Alanah rearranged the zen garden a bit and then we headed out to Apostle of Hustle, the other band of the lead guitarist of Broken Social Scene who was joined with Dennis Wolf and Jean Massicotte. They played a few songs off an album that was recorded about 14 months ago on St-Laurent. Their set ranged from energetic rock that made the very young (unlike me, obviously) crowd dance to rock ballad and ended with the song Folkloric Feel, the title track of his first album. I know this because one of the benefits of my new roomates is a more varied CD collection. I also know this because my friend Stevie who was behind me during the show told me. Yeah… I’m not good with song titles.
Afterwards, we went to get some shade and waited for Thunderheist to start and fully embraced our nerdiness by trying out Alanah’s laptop. Turns out there is no internet except for in the Dumoulin internet café which is where we’ll be bloggin’ from all weekend. Thunderheist started and we danced and danced like one does when Thunderheist is playing. ”Thunderheist is for children”, they said after a particularily intense song and as it turns out, Thunderheist is also for middle-aged ladies or rather, Graham’s, or Gramzilla’s, mom who was in the crowd. I’ve only ever seen them play late at night so it was a little bit odd to see them in the daylight, a feeling that Isis, the lady with the mad dance moves and the voice behind Toronto’s Thunderhesit, shared. She probably went right from the stage to a nap in the shade seeing as this is the 4th show that they do in the past 36 hours. Party like a rockstar I guess!
I got some photos, like I do, but I had to leave my Nikon behind for the day. Heres some of the shots I got so far, but it’s only just beginnin’ baby!

heat is making you confused and hilarious - “makeshit backup dancers”? my sides hurt.. oooohmygod the laughing.

omg seriously though, it’s a mixture of heat, lack of food and probably hydration and being pretty tired but sooooooooo happy! i think the common thread in my blog posts is confusion.
