so between sonia, worn author, editor and cover model, being featured in this Rockabilly documentary, and trailing a camera crew behind her where ever she goes, and dj’ing at the party; and myself, contributing editor, (one time cover model,) doing a little model-walk action in the consistent variable project fashion show, showing off my best wonderwoman moves to that song “spirit in the sky”; and Serah (editor in chief) getting interviewed on CBC morning show this weekend, i think this fashion journal thing may be generating some buzz.
one thing’s for sure- that launch party was some fun. club lambi is hot in both senses of the term, and the curtains and layout are that happy hybrid- dirty hipster meets vintage posh- that suits the Worn style so well. the music was delicious, different, danceable - studded with favorites for singing along too, and forgetten gems to help you rock out.
speaking of things to help you rock out- i’m delighted with jamedo- they get the main thing right: the music always comes in well. and their system, for artists, is simple and neat. Jamendo
also- check out Weedfiles and especially this powerful anti-war collection of songs by ChuckD, DEVO and more. i assume they were pretty powerful. they didn’t work on my (linux) computer so well. Jamendo is a true open source inspired and enabled community- and this one is full of freely available albums. there’s some good fun in there already, and i bet it’ll get filled up with more as the idea of free music catches on, and as the site gets translated into english and attracts independent artists from over here, across the pond.
