Check out this play by smart-pants Mister Tom Fennario, whose short story in the third issue of my zine Lickety Split was chosen to be excerpted in the latest Broken Pencil magazine…
In Tom’s own words:
Say everybody, have you been wondering why I’ve been M.I.A for many a moon?
Well, it just so happens that I’ve been putting together a one act play with
some people I know. These people will be moving around a stage saying words
that I told them to say, and sometimes there will be moving images behind
them. If I wanted to sound like a jerk, I might call it a multi-media
performance piece. But instead I call it “A State of Nature”. Pretty good,
huh? It’s playing at Mainline Theatre next week. Attached is a fancy flyer,
but the gist of it is that it’s playing at 3997 St.Laurent from Thursday
Nov. 23 to Sunday Nov 26, 8pm starts all around with 2pm matinees on Sat.
and Sun. So come to see the sprawling extent of my genius, or come to see me
fall flat on my face. Either way it should be interesting, hmmmmm?

Also, check out the Super Reel Dames Call for Submissions- film + bands meet up again!
What do you see when you hear your favourite piece of music?
After a very successful first year, the Super Reel Dames film festival is inviting filmmakers of the female persuasion to make short films that are inspired by music. Local, classic, your own band… the point is to pick a song and go wild with it.
New or pre-screened films will be considered by amateur or professional filmmakers, and must have a woman at the forefront in their creation (as director, camera person, producer, or sound tech).
Rules:
The first step is to send us a pitch outlining:
A bit about who you are; a bit about the piece of music/artists you have chosen (and a copy, or link to the song for us to hear); and the film’s concept (or description if it’s already made).
Bonus points will be given for: Local/Canadian musicians, collaborations, and films made on Super 8
Deadline for pitches is: December 15.
From the pitches we will select 25-30 films. If your pitch is selected you have until February 15 to submit the actual film.
The screening will be held Tuesday, March 13 at the sexy Sala Rossa, 4848 St-Laurent, Montreal QC.
Send all pitches and inquiries to: reeldames@yahoo.ca
