Tonight at La Sala Rossa (oops! thanks Robyn!) SAT: TILT.
TILT is a sound broadcast event which presents twelve works that are essentially musical, created by composers and artists from Quebec. For each event, the thematic and historic focus is a prominent figure in sound creation (electroacoustic and experimental music, sound art) in Quebec who is nowadays unrecognized or has been forgotten. The 12 invited contemporary artists were chosen for the quality of their performances and not for some similarity with their predecessors.
ANY RESEMBLANCE WOULD THEN BE PURELY ACCIDENTAL…Each evening is comprised of two distinct programs, one at 5h pm and the other at 9h pm. The entrance fee for each program is $8 (at the door only) or $12 for two programs attended on the same night. TILT events are projects that demand attentive listening.
Please note that the programs begin on time and that absolute silence is mandatory. Thank you for your understanding.
From the sounds of it TILT will be a kind of audio performance tribute- oral, aural history. Maybe something worth checking out, especially if maybe you’ve spent the last 2 days video game conferencing … little something different? eh? (Arcadia has been raging this weekend, I’m going to see if I can get a report on it this evening when I meet with a fella to talk about music for our upcoming holiday party, and a potential art project with the kids from the Mile End Mission. I’ll let you know how it goes!)
i think it’s at SAT (st laurent, south of st catherine) and not Sala! (according to their site)
