2 quick bits of excitement

lots of fun news! 2 to try on for size:

1. official Lulu.com lovers over here, we’ll be teaming up together to offer an OS for artists workshop at the Puces that will blow your mind. I swear. Also- they are sponsoring our publishing- not sure how this plays out yet but it makes me feel all tingly and giggly and wide eyed with possibility.

2. When people come over to learn how to Indyish we teach them to use the site and in the process end up talking a lot about why open source is essential to us. We’ve been working on the site and growing the network since December, and trying to promote recycled media, books made using LULU.com, and creative ways to open source content- like we had a 24hr music video making event where everything made was licenced CC attribution, and where at least one participant used only open tools and public domain footage. ubercool.

But!! For the first time ever an indyish artist has posted something for sale on the site that refers wryly to the copyright questions on which Indyish is based! Her name is Plumage, and she found an old ad for copyright, turned it into a silk screen and put it on a reconstructed second hand shirt. It’s called A Copyright will Protect you from Pirates and I think it’s delicious and nutritious for your software and music stealin souls. (just kidding, nobody ever does that, esp not broke artists trying to compete with corporate graphic artists using 5000$ tools.)
